Peregian Beach Surf Life Saving Club provides courses through Surf Life Saving Queensland RTO #2804. They offer skills-based development opportunities for our Club members to help keep Peregian Beach and surrounds safe and save lives.

Upcoming Courses

BRONZE MEDALLION & SURF RESCUE CERTIFICATE

The Bronze Medallion (BM) is the core award for becoming a patrolling surf lifesaver in Australia. It is available to members aged 15 and older and teaches surf awareness, rescue techniques, resuscitation, radio operations, surf signals and patrol operations. This award requires annual skills maintenance to remain proficient.

The Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC) is an introductory award for members aged 13 and older. It teaches basic surf awareness, rescue skills, and resuscitation, serving as the minimum requirement to act as water safety for Nippers or join active beach patrols. This award requires annual skills maintenance to remain proficient.

Candidates wishing to participate require the following:

  • Financial membership
  • Be 13 years or older (SRC) or 15 years or older (BM)
  • Hold a valid Blue Card if 18+ years and completed a Child Safety course

Register for a course

Log into your SLS Hub account and go to e/Learning.

Select the course you'd like to do and complete the registration details. A confirmation email will be sent to you. If pre-requisites are not met, a message will be displayed advising what needs to be addressed.

After acceptance into the course you will be prompted to create an aXcelerate account. From here you can do the pre-course work required.

If you are enrolling in a Bronze Medallion (BM) or Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC) course it is highly recommended to do a practice swim before you start training so you know you will be able to pass your pool proficiency (BM - 400m in 9mins or less, SRC - 200m in 5mins or less).

Online pre-requisites must be completed before you attend a practical session. Please refer to patrol team communications for access details or contact your PC for more information.
