PATROL AT PEREGIAN BEACH
Lifesaving is a volunteer community committed to preventing deaths by drowning in coastal waters and is one of the most unique organisations in the world. It offers many rewarding opportunities.
We aim to be fully inclusive and offer something for everyone no matter your age, gender, culture or swimming ability. Such as:
No problem - there is something for everyone at all ages with lifesaving. A Patrol is made up of different members with different awards, depending on their strengths. Whilst we have Bronze Medallion holders who are trained to rescue people from the surf; we also need Radio Operators in the tower or First Aid and Advanced Resuscitation holders on the beach.
At Peregian Beach SLSC, we patrol our beach each Sunday from September to May with volunteer lifesavers attending to patrols approximately every 3 to 4 weeks for a half day, on average this works out to 10-12 patrols a season.

Bronze Medallion (Certificate II in Public Safety – Aquatic Rescue).
This is a six-week course and the requirements are as follows:

| First Aid [AID] | Pre-Requisites minimum age 14 years. |
| Resuscitation [AID] | Pre-Requisites minimum age 13 years. |
| Advanced Resuscitation Techniques (ART) | Pre-Requisites minimum age 15 years. |
| IRB Crew Certificate | Pre-Requisites minimum age 15 years, and proficient Bronze Medallion |
| Silver Medallion IRB Drivers | Pre-Requisites minimum age 17 years, proficient IRB Crewman and valid Marine Licence. |
| Silver Medallion Beach Management (Patrol Captain) | Pre-Requisites minimum age 17 years, hold a Bronze Medallion and be proficient in at least one of the following: Bronze, First Aid, ART, Radio. |
| Side-by-Side Vehicle (SSV) & 4WD Operator Induction | Pre-Requisites - Australian car drivers license. |
| Age Manager/Parent Liaison | Pre-Requisites minimum age 15 years, hold a current Blue Card ‘Working with Children Card’ |
| Surf Sports Official | Pre-Requisites minimum age 15 years, hold a current Blue Card ‘Working with Children Card’ |
| Observers Award | Pre-Requisites - minimum age 15 years |
| Radio Operator | Pre-Requisites - You must be at least 13 years of age on the date of the final assessment. |
| Skills Maintenance | All active lifesavers are required to complete a skills maintenance (proficiency check) before the 31 December each year. |
